What are Ecosystems?

Ecosystems consist of biotic factors(living things) and natural abiotic factors(non-living things.) A population is the number of organisms in one specific species. A community includes all the different populations and living things in an ecosystem.

Food Chains

A food chain is a pathway of energy and nutrients in an ecosystem.

There are different rolls that the organisms in a food chain play.

  • Plants are producers
• Consumers
  • There are two types of consumers
    • Primary consumers eat producers
    • Secondary consumers eat Primary consumers
  • Consumers are usually animals
•  Decomposers
  • Decomposers break down dead or decaying organisms
